Former Twins relief pitcher leaves MLB to return to KBO

A relief pitcher who was recently designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins is headed back to South Korea. 

The right-hander went unclaimed on waivers and elected free agency over the weekend. 

According to Yoo Jee-ho of Yonhap News Agency, Woo-Suk Go has signed a contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's LG Twins. 

"An official with the LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said Tuesday the 28-year-old pitcher is on his way back to Seoul and could sign his deal before the end of the day," Yoo wrote. 

Go had a brief stint with the AL Central club, allowing four earned runs on eight hits and five strikeouts in four appearances. 

His roster spot was given to Minnesota's top prospect, outfielder Walker Jenkins.

Go, 28, spent the first seven years of his professional baseball career with the KBO's Twins. He recorded 30 or more saves three times, including a 42-save performance in 2022. 

The Miami Marlins signed Go to a contract before the 2024 season, but he never received a promotion to the Majors with the NL East club. 

This past spring, Go suited up for Korea at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
