Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas argued that Luka Doncic's legacy surpasses Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's heritage in the basketball world if both stars were to retire in the present.

On Friday's livestream of "The Arena", the former Warriors player and his podcast crew discussed the Lakers' 118-116 win over the San Antonio Spurs. During one segment of the livestream, Arenas claimed that Luka Doncic's legacy up till now is bigger than SGA's accomplishments.

"If both their careers stopped right now, Luka would probably be in front of Shai," Arenas said. "One is a five tiime All-NBA first team.. Shai is a three-time All-NBA, three time. One has been the number one player in his position for five straight years."

Arenas' crew were skeptical of the former Warriors star's statement, as they compared statistics and different situations in which Doncic and SGA entered the league. However, Arenas remained adamant in his stance.

"You can use whatever reason you want, but one is a five-time for five-year straight that from his rookie season he was first team," Arenas added. "One is a five-time All-NBA, one is a three-time All-NBA. One has an MVP, one has that soon... but Shai needed all of that to catch where Luka is at the same age."

Luka Doncic might be one of the most exciting offensive players to watch in the NBA right now. However, in terms of accomplishments, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is currently leading against the Lakers' superstar.

While Doncic is a five-time All-NBA player, he lacks the silverware in his cabinet to surpass the Thunder star. SGA won the MVP, the Finals MVP, and the NBA Championship all together last season, which places him above the Lakers star in accomplishments.

Gilbert Arenas refuses to rank the number one player between Luka Doncic and Shia Gilgeous-Alexander

Later on the livestream, former Laker Nick Young asked Gilbert Arenas to elaborate on his take and rank the number one and number two players between Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

However, instead of fulfilling his crewmate's request, the former Warriors player refused to answer the question. (Timestamp: 35:22)

"Who's one and who's two?" Young asked. "Whoever you want. Whoever you value." Arenas said.

Later, Young said that he saw SGA as the number one player in the comparison. However, Arenas argued that the Thunder star's last season performance tied him up against Doncic. He said that SGA had to catch up to Doncic with his previous season's performance, as the Lakers star has always been stellar.

However, Young argued that Luka Doncic had a team built around him for all the years he played in Dallas. In contrast, he said that SGA joined the Thunder in his second year, became the star player for them a year later, and led them to a championship in his fourth year with the franchise.
