There is drama between Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies. Although neither side has given any details about what's going on in the locker room, there is an obvious rift following the recent events. Amid this, former NBA star Kenyon Martin had some words to Morant's father, Tee, demanding that he be a better role model.

According to the one-time All-Star, Morant is ruining what he built in Memphis. Martin also said that the Grizzlies' star needs someone to set a good example for him. He directed that to the two-time All-Star's father.

“Tee has to be better. He has to be a better role model, better leader for that young man. Young man you f**king up now. You gotta be blatantly honest with him,” Martin said on Wednesday's "Gil's Arena."

Martin added that Morant must be aware that the coach will treat him differently, simply due to his star status.

"But Ja gotta understand, he is held to a different standard because you are the star of that team. Your behavior as of late hasn't said that you are that.

But given the recent events with the Grizzlies and Morant, Martin thinks that it's time for the franchise to trade him.

"Just another situation that's unfortunate for him. He's a hell of a talent, still. It's run it's course in Memphis with him. I think they need to find a new home for him."

The situation stemmed from Friday's 117-112 loss to the LA Lakers. Ja Morant finished with eight points in 30 minutes and was passive for most of the game. When asked about what happened to him, he told reporters to ask the coaching staff.

He was suspended for one game for his remarks, which were deemed improper. After serving his punishment, Morant told the media that he had lost his joy playing for Memphis after the team's 114-106 loss against the Detroit Pistons on Monday.

Ja Morant's trade value is reportedly low

After Ja Morant's situation started to gain attention, there have been several trade rumors around the Memphis Grizzlies. However, Morant's trade value isn't as high, despite him being an All-Star. Nevertheless, the disgruntled star has been closely associated with two teams.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings are two teams that could make a move for Morant.

"The Minnesota Timberwolves, per a team source, are one. Ditto for the Sacramento Kings. The Grizzlies’ next opponent, the Houston Rockets, need a point guard after losing Fred Van Vleet to a torn ACL in the preseason but, per a team source, are unlikely to pursue him." Amick reported.

This season, Ja Morant has appeared in seven games, averaging 20.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 7.1 assists. The star guard has dealt with various off-court issues, which have hurt his trade value.
