Bam Adebayo's huge scoring night Tuesday against the Washington Wizards came out of nowhere as the three-time All-Star passed Kobe Bryant for the second-most points in a single game in league history.
Following the performance, there's been plenty of fall out from around the league.
Some people are indifferent about the record, others have been quick to praise Adebayo while even some have criticized both Adebayo and the Miami Heat for tacking on during garbage time.
Another former player chimed in on the performance Thursday, as former Utah Jazz All-Star Gordon Hayward revealed his thoughts.
"I don’t think it’s great for the league. It kind of feels like a pickup game when you’re watching. And for him to shoot 43 free throws and 22 threes, when that’s not what he does (...) and again, the Wizards too. With all these teams tanking, it kind of makes it feel not legit."
Hayward is one of the few players who were on the court during Kobe Bryant's final game of his career, when he dropped 60 points at 37-years-old.
Hayward went on to speak about that game, as Bryant took over in what ended as a five-point Lakers victory.
Either way, regardless of what others think, Adebayo's game now stands alone at No. 2 in NBA history, still a long ways away from Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game.
The Heat will be back in action Thursday, at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Then, Adebayo will have a tough act to follow in his first game since scoring 83.
