Former Lions QB Teddy Bridgewater's ridiculous coaching suspension sparks outrage

Former Detroit Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been suspended from his head coaching job at Miami Northwestern.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Bridgewater announced that he was suspended by the school and can no longer coach the football team.

"The suspension came from MNW and it’s impossible to suspend someone who doesn’t work for you. So if I'm suspended from MNW I'm free to go to another school of my choice but I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE," Bridgewater wrote on Facebook.

"And if it comes down to it, I will volunteer from the bleachers like I used to in 2018 and 2019 when no one had a problem," Bridgwater added in his post.

Days before his suspension was announced, the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) began an investigation into an allegation that Bridgewater helped provide impermissible benefits to his players, such as Uber rides, meals, training camps, and more.

Bridgewater getting suspended from his coaching job due to helping out his players and community has sparked outrage on the internet, with a few former NFL players coming to Bridgewater's defense.

"Basic necessities & resources that the kids needed & this is what you do 🤦🏾," former Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson wrote on X.

"Suspending Teddy Bridgewater isn’t justice. It’s punishing love, leadership, and sacrifice," former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III wrote on X.

"What a joke," Bussin' With The Boys podcast hosted by former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan on Bridgewater's suspension.

"The school should be thanking him, not suspending him," Joe Pompliano wrote on X.

"He gave his own money to help them succeed. That’s leadership, not a violation. Let the man coach!" X user MattyF410 on Bridgewater's suspension.

Bridgewater led Miami Northwestern to a state title last year, and shortly after the high school season, he signed with the Lions to back up Jared Goff to end the 2024 campaign. The veteran quarterback didn't sign with a team this offseason, as he was planning to head back to coaching.

The (FHSAA) is still trying to find more information on the matter, per Rivals.
