The goal to become NBA players for two former Iowa high school standouts is still alive. Both Tytan Anderson and Patrick McCaffery signed contracts to play in the upcoming NBA Summer League.
Anderson, a native of Eldridge, Iowa who shined at North Scott High School, signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward earned first team all-Missouri Valley Conference honors with the University of Northern Iowa this past season.

Anderson recovered from an injury early in his college career to become just the ninth MVC player to score 1,200 points, grab 750 rebounds, record 200 assists and 125 steals, joining Hersey Hawkins, Larry Bird, J.J. Anderson, Seth Tuttle, Marcus Timmons, Herb Johnson and Matt Renn.
McCaffery, who was born in Greensboro, North Carolina while his dad, Fran McCaffery was head coach at UNC Greensboro, graduated from Iowa City West High School. He was a four-year varsity player for the Trojans, setting a school scoring record while becoming a Top 100 recruit after averaging 25 points per game as a senior.

McCaffery started his college career playing for his father with the Iowa Hawkeyes. After five years at Iowa including a redshirt, he transferred to Butler for this past year, hitting career-highs in several categories including points per game, free throw percentage and 3-point percentage.
The NBA Summer League begins July 10 in Las Vegas and runs through July 20. Games will be played at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion, which are located on the campus of UNLV.
