Could the Baylor Bears be the next college football program to hire a former player as head coach? That's the question many are asking right now. If so, there's one who wants to be back in Waco.

Robert Griffin III put his name on the list on Monday. Baylor's only Heisman Trophy winner told Dan Patrick he's 100 percent interested in leading the Bears. With no coaching experience, would that ever happen? It's not as crazy as it sounds. Deion Sanders is in Colorado. Not to mention, Michael Vick, DeSean Jackson and Marshall Faulk are all at HBCU schools.

Baylor fired Dave Aranda on Sunday after he went 40-40 in six-plus seasons. Joe Klanderman was named interim coach for the remainder of this season.

"If Baylor wants to get back to winning and have a university that isn't just respectable on the football field, but one the fans can be proud of, they need people who know what it looks like to win at Baylor." — @RGIII says he's interested in the Baylor head coaching job. 🐻🏈 https://t.co/tgrnYZM0nQ

"Yes, 100 percent," Griffin told Patrick when asked if he was interested in the job. "If Baylor wants to get back to winning and have a university that isn't just respectable on the football field, but the fans can be proud of, they need people who know what it looks like to win at Baylor. So yeah, I would 100 percent be interested."

Griffin's Heisman Trophy season was outstanding. He threw for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns and only six interceptions, and ran for another 699 yards and 10 TDs. That was the school's first 10-win season since 1980. His NFL career lasted seven seasons before he latched on as a broadcaster for ESPN and now FOX Sports.

Baylor (4-3, 2-2 Big 12) lost 25-24 at Kansas on Saturday after having a field goal blocked in the final minute. Griffin could add a spark to the Bears, who've been looking to be relevant in the Big 12 for decades.
