The Philadelphia Phillies are at risk of losing some big-time names this offseason. The biggest name, and one likely to draw a ton of interest from opposing teams, is Kyle Schwarber.
However, he is not the only one who should entice rival teams' front offices. J.T. Realmuto and Ranger Suarez are also set to hit the open market.
While the club would like to bring all of them back, it likely will not be possible. They have around $50 to $60 million to spend this winter before they hit the highest of the Competitive Balance Tax threshold.
Former Gold Glover Harrison Bader officially opts out of deal with Phillies
With the news on Tuesday, Philadelphia fans can add another player to the list of those who may be leaving during the offseason. According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, Harrison Bader officially opted out of his contract with the Phillies, leaving $10 million on the table to test out free agency.
"Harrison Bader has declined his side of a $10 million mutual option, as expected. The Phillies said last month they are interested in bringing him back."
This move was expected to be made. Bader is coming off a career year where he started 146 regular-season games, hitting a career-high 17 home runs and 54 runs batted in.
He is seeking a multi-year deal, and should easily get one after his stellar numbers in 2025. The question is, will he return as a member of the Phillies, or will he catch on somewhere else?
