After a few years out of the league, a former Los Angeles Chargers second-round pick is making a comeback.

According to a post on social media, defensive back Nasir Adderley, who retired at the age of 25 in 2023, announced he is coming out of retirement in 2026.

"The freedom to manage my own scheduled was very important to me, but what I didn't realize was how much I'd miss having football in my life," he said.

"The competition, the brotherhood, and just being involved in the game that means so much to me and my family," he added. "Therefore, I am officially announcing my intention to return to the NFL."

Adderley, 28, added that he prioritized "health, family and entrepreneurship" during his time away from the NFL and is "proud of what I've been able to accomplish."

Adderley was taken with the No. 60 overall pick in 2019 and appeared in 50 games (44 starts) over four seasons in the NFL.

He actually had his best showing in coverage in his final season, giving up a completion rate of 60.5% and a passer rating of 83.6 when targeted.

Because he played out his contract with the Chargers, Adderley is free to sign with any team upon his return to the NFL.
