Former All-Star believes the Wizards could lose Anthony Davis and still reach the Playoffs

Ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season, the Washington Wizards have made some promising developments. They boast a talented squad, and people might not be aware of the number of talented players they have on the roster.

Of course, most people will recognize Anthony Davis and Trae Young as multi-time All-Stars. However, it seems that Davis is not that integral to their plans, especially with trade rumors following him everywhere he goes.

Jeff Teague believes the Wizards could lose Anthony Davis and still do well

As a former All-Star guard, Jeff Teague knows what it takes for a team to succeed. He was part of that Atlanta Hawks team that became the first seed in 2015, but still disappointed in the Playoffs.

At the moment, the Wizards' focus must be on succeeding in the regular season. It will be quite challenging because of the abundance of talent in the Eastern Conference, so all hands on deck is needed for them to achieve that goal.

Interestingly, Davis is not one of the most committed players on the Wizards roster. He is quite talented and is a proven winner, but the injury history might turn off a lot of people on him. For Teague, it seems he believes more in the rest of the team than just Davis.

"Because Trae did more with less. Like Alex Sarr is still a capable player. You still got D. Ayton off the bench, and you still got a bunch of young wings. You put the ball in Trae's hands and let him cook as he did in Atlanta. Because Atlanta, this is basically an Atlanta Hawks team," Teague said about the dynamic between the Wizards and Davis on his Club 520 Podcast.

It will certainly be an interesting situation to follow because the Wizards are clearly setting themselves up to be competitive for the first time in a long while. If they can do so, the Wizards can be dangerous with or without Davis.
