It’s the end of the road for Brian Daboll with the New York Giants, but general manager Joe Schoen remains with the franchise.
Following the loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the franchise has decided to part ways with the coach. Daboll leaves New York with a 20-40-1 record, including an unimpressive 2-8 record this season.
However, The Athletic's Dan Duggan believes Schoen should follow Daboll out of the franchise. Schoen has been criticized by the Giants fan base for some of his decisions over the years, and the NFL insider believes it's time for the GM to feel some scrutiny for the team's failure on the field.

Offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has been named the Giants' interim coach for the rest of the season. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the franchise currently has no plans to fire Schoen, and no other coaching staff will follow Brian Daboll out of the team.
"No other staff changes are expected at this time in New York, sources say. GM Joe Schoen and DC Shane Bowen will stay in their current roles for now, while Mike Kafka replaces Brian Daboll," Russini reported. The future of Schoen will be subjected to intense discussion in the next couple of months, especially if the Giants fail to get things right after Daboll's departure.
NFL Insider discloses Joe Schoen is not on the hot seat
While there's a feeling outside the franchise that Joe Schoen should be fired, that's not the case in the New York Giants front office. According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Schoen is still highly regarded inside the building, and there's little to no chance of him leaving soon.
“I do not get the sense that Joe Schoen’s seat is particularly hot. That, obviously, can change if this thing goes completely off the rails," Hughes said. "Internally, Giants still view GM in high regard."According to Hughes, the sentiment within the organization is that the Giants' talent level far exceeds the disappointing results they've produced. The amazing start to life rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has had in the NFL offers a lot of confidence, and the belief is that they can do better after Brian Daboll's exit.
