Five rising stars to watch ahead of USMNT’s roster reveal

The U.S. men’s national team’s first camp since the World Cup is expected to feature plenty of young players as the program begins a fresh start heading into the 2030 World Cup cycle.

Here are a few to watch for during Thursday’s roster reveal. 

Cavan Sullivan, Philadelphia Union, 16

The teenager has been one of the top players in MLS since the season resumed, recording five goals and seven assists for a Union squad that has not lost in its last 10 matches.

Julian Hall, Red Bull New York, 18

The New York City native has been the driving force for the Red Bulls’ offense this season, with his team-leading nine goals in MLS play, while developing his overall game under USMNT great Michael Bradley. 

Adri Mehmeti, Red Bull New York, 17

Another Red Bulls teenager who burst onto the scene this season amid a youth movement in Harrison, showing off his ability to move the ball that has led to him being credited with five assists.

Neil Pierre, Philadelphia Union, 18

The 6-foot-5 teen looms large on the Union defense and has proven what a lockdown defender he can be since returning from a loan with a Danish club in July, along with being incredibly valuable on set pieces and scoring four goals. 

Mathis Albert, Borussia Dortmund, 17

Albert has been a part of the national team program for some time, and could earn his first senior team call-up as he’s become a highly touted prospect for the Bundesliga club.
