"Fireable offense... complete malpractice": CFB fans rip Kalen DeBoer for questionable game management in Alabama's blowout Rose Bowl loss to Indiana 

After a disappointing debut with the Crimson Tide last year, Kalen DeBoer managed to help the program make it to the 12-team playoffs this season. They managed to secure a 34-24 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round, punching their way into the quarterfinals.

However, Kalen DeBoer and Alabama's journey in the playoffs was short-lived. On Thursday, they suffered a humiliating 38-3 loss at the hands of the undefeated Big Ten champions, the Indiana Hoosiers.

After the loss, fans on social media heavily criticized DeBoer for his questionable game management. They urged the program to fire him and bring in a suitable replacement.

"I've seen enough, 2 plays: Kalen DeBoer having Austin Mack on his roster and using Ty Simpson should be a fireable offense. Complete malpractice," one fan commented. "Alabama needs to fire Kalen DeBoer, he has turned Alabama into a joke. We should pay Curt Cignetti whatever it takes to hire him away from Indiana ASAP. He was a Saban assistant and it shows, he is the closest thing to Saban still coaching in college football," another fan said. "DeBoer shouldn't even get on the plane back to Tuscaloosa after pathetic performance," this fan wrote. "Fire DeBoer. This duded is a complete embarrassment to the Alabama program. Hire @CoachUrbanMeyer to reset t he culture and winning mentality. DeBoer is a disgrace," another fan said. "No matter how good Indiana is, Alabama looked like unprepared and bad coached team. DeBoer is one of the worst coach Alabama has had in their history. Ty Simpson might be better to go portal and play for another team, DeBoer can't coach him, one fan wrote. "Truth about DeBoer he won in jr leagues had one g ood year with an exceptional QB. That's the truth. People don't want to admit it but that's the truth. This is embarrassing. Hats off to Cignetti and IU they are whoopingg us handedly. They deserve all the credit,"

Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide were in the backseat right from the start of the first quarter. The Hoosiers secured a dominating 24-3 lead heading into halftime. Quarterback Ty Simpson struggled to get the offense going, completing 12 of 16 passes for 67 yards. He was then benched for Austin Mack in the third quarter.

However, this change did not help Alabama's case. Curt Cignetti's team scored three more touchdowns in the second half to secure the win. Kalen DeBoer made several questionable calls during the game.

One example was going for a fourth down in the Crimson Tide's 34 despite trailing Indiana by over 20 points. This play did not pan out in their favor as WR Germie Bernard was stopped a few yards short of a first down.

Kalen DeBoer shares his honest thoughts on the playoff loss to Indiana

In the postgame press conference, Kalen DeBoer did not shy away from expressing his disappointment with his team's humiliating playoff loss.

"You know, I think for us, it's a lot of emotions right now," DeBoer said. "We can be upset because losing doesn't sit well with us. And, you know, we can be frustrated about it, and that's what our program's gonna be is upset when these types of situations happens. And we got to to use it to fuel us moving forward."

DeBoer also heaped praise on his players for giving it their best in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal showdown against the Hoosiers.

The last time the Crimson Tide won the national championship was back in 2020 under former coach Nick Saban.
