Fever's Caitlin Clark sheds light on mysterious leg injury

The Indiana Fever are gearing up for the start of the 2025 season, but before that, they have one final preseason game to play in against the Atlanta Dream on Saturday. While Caitlin Clark did play in the Fever's clash against the Brazil national team, she missed their preseason opener against the Washington Mystics due to a mysterious leg injury.

Clark enters the new season with just as much hype as she had during her rookie campaign. Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game with the Fever last year, earning her an All-Star selection, a spot on the All-WNBA First Team, and the Rookie of the Year award.

Now, Clark has heightened expectations for her second season, which is why fans were concerned to see her miss a game with a leg injury. When asked about the ailment, Clark provided a simple explanation, saying that she simply thinks she was playing too much basketball.

"Probably just a little too much basketball," Clark said about her injury. "I love being in the gym, but I think understanding when to be in the gym and when to recover, things like that, I think it’s just finding a balance and obviously getting back in the swing of things. It was nothing major or anything like that."

The good news for fans of Clark is that it doesn't seem like her injury is anything worth getting worried about, as she played against Brazil, dropping 16 points while hauling in six rebounds and dishing out five assists over 19 minutes of action.

Clark doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Indiana's third and final preseason contest against the Dream. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET, and per usual, all eyes will be on Clark to see how she performs in this matchup.
