According to ex-WWE writer Vince Russo, the fact that a smaller-sized female superstar is producing a men's tag team match is questionable, and her role was acquired due to Shawn Michaels' influence.
On the latest episode of Writing with Russo, host Dr. Chris Featherstone addressed the rumor from WrestleVotes, which revealed that Candice LeRae has gotten a new role as a backstage producer. A few weeks ago, she reportedly produced a match before SmackDown on a WWE Main Event taping, being responsible for putting together The Street Profits vs Los Garzas.
Vince Russo said that HBK loves Johnny Gargano, who is married to Candice LeRae, which is why she got the role of a backstage producer. He didn't seem impressed at the idea of a 110 lb female star producing a match featuring four veteran talents who are much bigger than her:
"If that obviously doesn't reek of good old boy network...Shawn Michaels loves Johnny Gargano, Johnny Gargano is married to Candice LeRae, give me a freaking break. A 100-pound woman is going to be the agent for their match?"John Cena's last opponent leaked? Check here!

Vince Russo believes Shawn Michaels & Triple H need to go from WWE
Vince Russo didn't mince his words when it comes to what he thinks about the creative heads of WWE and NXT, respectively. The two best friends now run key parts of WWE, and Russo thinks that they need to go.
On Vince Russo's The Brand, the ex-WWE writer said that The Game and HBK shouldn't be in charge of the entire creative aspect of the sports entertainment juggernaut.
"They're incompetent, bro. This is incompetent. These are not the people who should be in charge. Triple H and freaking Shawn Michaels should be agents at best. They should not be in charge," Russo said. What's interesting is that some have pegged Shawn Michaels as the potential successor to Triple H should he leave, be fired, or simply get burned out. In the same way Triple H was groomed for his role through developing NXT, HBK has had a few years of hands-on experience running WWE's developmental wing.
Time will tell what happens, and many may not agree with Vince Russo's assessment of Michaels. While NXT hasn't reached the same heights that it did in the mid-to-late 2010s, Michaels has undeniably given the brand some stability, helping produce some incredible talent. The NXT Women's division, in particular, has been considered by many as a huge achievement due to the depth and quality that it has had in the last couple of years.
