The Minnesota Vikings (7-2) have played winning football this season, but the offense has been all over the map in recent weeks.
Sam Darnold, once a locked-in QB1 over the first month of the season, has fantasy managers questioning everything after he got pummeled by the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The Vikings have mostly funneled everything through Justin Jefferson in the passing game and Aaron Jones on the ground, leaving some tough weekly decisions on the rest of their skill position group.
Minnesota will be looking to get right this week on the road against a Tennessee Titans team that has played better on defense than you’d think for a 2-7 outfit.
How should we approach Minnesota’s periphery stars Sunday in Nashville? Lets break it down:
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 11: Sam Darnold
The Titans look like a tough matchup on paper, and Darnold hasn’t been as sharp on the road this season. But this feels like a get-right spot for Darnold against a banged-up Titans defense.
Tennessee ranks dead last in the NFL in opponent points per play, and they haven’t been good in the red zone either. There should be opportunities on Sunday for Darnold, who has already thrown 17 passing touchdowns this season.
Darnold’s issues over the past month have come down to sacks and turnovers. He hasn’t had much trouble moving the ball, and the guess here is that the team emphasizes protecting the football against a beatable opponent.
Expect a decent bounce-back performance with a couple touchdown passes, making Darnold a decent play in DFS leagues. He could also be a solution to Dak Prescott’s former fantasy managers this week.
Verdict: Start him as a sleeper
Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 11: Jordan Addison
Addison has seen a slight uptick in targets lately, but he still only has one top-10 fantasy performance on the season, and that was way back in Week 4.
Again, the Titans are banged up in the secondary. Star corner L'Jarius Sneed is yet to practice this week with a knee injury, and both Justin Hardee (groin) and Roger McCreary (knee) are working through ailments of their own.
Tennessee has been easy to score on in recent weeks, and Addison should get some opportunities to hit pay dirt. You could do a lot worse in your flex spot.
Verdict: Fire him up as a flex play
