I love finding out a show has a good ending before I even start watching it. I need to know I’m not about to invest 8 seasons of my life just to sit there during the finale like a guy who got stood up at Applebee’s.
Thankfully, people in this AskReddit thread shared the TV shows they think actually stuck the landing.
Potential Spoilers Ahead. You’ve Been Warned.
1. The Good Place

“The Good Place is my most recent one, especially after all the twists and rug pulls, because they’d still set up what truly felt like an impossible problem to solve, and then resolved it in a satisfying way.”
2. Six Feet Under

“Six Feet Under pulled off the rare act of Jumping the shark AND sticking the landing.”
Another fan added:
“I love that they built up this subplot with the opposing funeral home with a huge battle of ‘big corporation vs the little guy’ and they just said ‘actually no one cares.’ And drop it unceremoniously off screen”
3. Better Call Saul

“It is definitely a rare example of a spin-off being better than the original.
Breaking Bad was amazing and still Better Call Saul was better, including the ending.”
4. VEEP

“The ending wasn’t sugar coated. It was dark humour, truthful, and reflected the narcissism in the main character (plus the other characters too). Poor Gary.”
5. Schitt’s Creek

“I just watched this again for the 100th time and each time I bawl like a baby. Such a perfect ending to this incredible show. I think what makes me cry the most is knowing how sad the cast must have been knowing it was their last time as an ensemble.”
6. Cheers

“Yeah the show starts with him (by himself) opening the bar and ends with him (by himself) closing it… Very poetic. There is of course one last moment that is a nod to coach.”
7. 30 Rock

“30 Rock ended the show with a punchline to a series-long running joke and it was perfect”
8. Superstore

“Superstore was great, with everyone gathering together at a barbecue and we get a glimpse at what their lives are like after the store closes. I teared up a little, not going to lie.”
9. Freaks and Geeks

“Given it wasn’t the intended ending I agree.
They kind of quick fixed it once it wasn’t renewed from memory.
But it really was a great series and while it wasn’t a closed ending it felt good”
10. Mad Men

“Mad Men. You had to give it the creator of that show to bring it all to a good ending, one he kept to himself for years before.”
11. MASH

“I love the Finale, but I can’t make it through watching it without crying every time.
The first time I saw it was as a teenager in the early 00’s, and every time since I’m a weepy mess.
It never gets any easier and idk how many times I’ve watched it at this point!”
12. Succession

“I think it’s such a good ending because it does bring to the logical conclusion each personality.
Tom is the only one that knows its role. He knows he can only get his success by being a puppet, but this paradoxically makes him the only one that gets what he set to achieve. He is basically the only one that has a realistic and self aware goal.
The rest of the protagonists never learn to compromise and end up getting nothing (I mean, except for billions in shares sold)”
13. Star Trek: The Next Generation

“People say that’s not a fair answer since it’s a primarily episodic show that didn’t have a ton of ongoing plot lines.
Yet the finale, with how it was crafted to look at the shows past, present, and (fake) future, still felt like the culmination of the entire 7 year run.
One of the best finales in television.”
14. The Office

The Office has one of the best endings in television.
It was the opposite of Seinfeld’s ending, which showed you how awful the characters were. It made the office cast somehow more genuine.
15. Parks and Recreation

“I consider P and R finale to be one of the best finales.
It did exactly what you wanted the show to do. It took all our favorite people and gave us a glimpse into how much they grew and see exactly where they ended up.
Everyone’s ending was well thought out and meaningful. Especially Tom’s.”
16. Scrubs

“I have seen a lot of tv shows over the years.
Every time I watch this show from beginning to end the finale has to be the best I’ve ever seen. It wraps everything up so well and hits you with such genuine emotion.
All the way down to the ambulance coming into the hospital while JD drives off symbolizing how life in the hospital goes on whether we’re ready for it or not.
Love it.”
17. House

“The series finale was even titled perfectly. It was called ‘Everybody dies'”
18. Friday Night Lights

“Just finished like my 8th rewatch of the show. The series finale has to be one of the best ever, right? No egregious, out of nowhere narrative decisions, everyone got an emotionally satisfying ending, literally a perfect ending.”
19. Barry

“The whole series is great, including the finale. One of the best TV shows in years.”
20. Brooklyn 99

“While the final season will probably be seen as weakest in the shows run, I feel that the series finale will be judged as one of the best episodes of the series. Well packed with both emotional moments and genuine laughs, I love how well it worked in terms of providing the final character developments to a cast we have been watching for almost a decade now while providing a great amount of fanservice through many great callbacks.
The nod to Cheers finale with the switching off lights joke is also a great homage to end this series on.”
21. Homeland

“I loved the ending of the show I think it’s the greatest finale ever, Homeland its the GOAT for me and the ending for Carrie is amazing, just amazing.”
22. Bojack Horseman

“I couldn’t be happier with the finale. I think giving us Bojack’s death would have been a great ending, as so many pieces of the penultimate episode are crafted from meaningful Bojack centric references from across the series.
Ending a show with its titular character’s appropriate death has a clear logic. Ending on a phone call with Diane, with so much power in so few words, would have been amazing.
Instead of telling the story of a man that loses everything to live for, Bojack Horseman told a story of how everyone can find something to live for.
I can now say that I will always love this show, and I will miss it forever”
23. Newhart

“Newhart – in the last episode he wakes up to the whole series being a dream and he’s in bed with his wife from The Bob Newhart Show. Funniest ending ever.”
24. The Americans

“The finale is one of the best TV episodes of all time.
Imo the show never had a noticeable drop in quality. That might be debatable, but no one can dispute that the finale is great.”
25. Avatar: The Last Airbender

“I just finished watching the last avatar and I can’t express how much I love this show. No doubt it is my favorite show ever and I love it so much.
The ending was by far my favorite part and I felt it brought a much needed sense of closure to the series.
After reading up on people’s views some people just didn’t like it and I can’t really imagine why.”
