In a lot of ways, the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes switched roles in Game 3.
The Caps were on the front foot for the first half of the contest, with the Canes doing everything they could to keep their heads above water.
Frederik Andersen held the fort in goal for Carolina long enough for the Hurricanes to find their game and break the deadlock en route to a 4-0 lead.
The Canes lead the series, 2-1, and are -275 favorites to make it 3-1 on Monday night.

Hurricanes vs. Capitals Game 4 betting preview
There is no arguing about who has been the better team for most of this series.
Outside of the first period of Game 3, the Canes have had the Caps under pressure, and if not for some heroics in goal from Logan Thompson, the aggregate scoreline would look much more lopsided than 7-4 Hurricanes.
That said, the Caps have proven they can hang around with the Canes, even if Carolina is throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the net.

Carolina has registered 215 shot attempts at 5-on-5 in this series, but only 70 have hit the net, and only four of those have found the twine.
What’s even more notable is that the Hurricanes have only generated 36 high-danger scoring chances at 5-on-5, which is just six more than the Caps in this series.
In other words, the Hurricanes are leaning into quantity, while the Caps are going for quality.

Hurricanes vs. Capitals Game 4 pick
Washington would certainly benefit from more time on the puck in Game 4 and beyond, but this isn’t the time to just write off the Caps.
In fact, given the lopsided prices on the betting board for Game 4, I’d argue now is the perfect time to buy in on Washington in any way you see fit.
Getting the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference at +225 to win Game 4 is certainly good value, but we’re also seeing Washington’s price to win the Stanley Cup get close to 30/1. That is absolutely worth a sprinkle.
