The Atlanta Falcons are making the best of what they have this offseason in terms of cap space. Atlanta is coming off another disheartening season in which it felt like the team let opportunities slip away. After all, they do have one of the best running backs in the game in Bijan Robinson. Saquon Barkley, running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, certainly believes that.
“There's nobody who's able to cut like Bijan in the NFL. There's not. You can go argue your mom about that. ... Trust me. I love myself and I think I have great cuts. There's nobody. ... It's finna get scary for a lot of people,” Barkley said.
The Falcons are now looking for a counterpart to Robinson after Tyler Allgeier signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
“The Arizona Cardinals are signing running back Tyler Allgeier to a two-year deal worth $12.25 million, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Allgeier, 25, had 514 rushing yards on 143 carries for the Atlanta Falcons during the 2025 season. The power back was particularly effective in the red zone with a team-high eight touchdowns, one more than star Bijan Robinson,” ESPN wrote.
The Falcons still have some low-cost options available, and one of them could be Najee Harris.
“We have discussed the idea of Nick Chubb joining the Falcons enough at Blogging Dirty, so I decided to go another direction. Now that Tyler Allgeier is enjoying desert life after signing with the Cardinals, one of the biggest unfulfilled needs on the roster is running back depth behind Bijan Robinson. Instead of another Stefanski reunion, Harris makes sense. Not only Harris a solid change-of-pace back who can play the Allgeier role near the goal line, he's coming off of season-ending Achilles tear that'll likely affect his free agent market. So if the Falcons can get him for cheap, he's worth a shot,” Blogging Dirty’s Jason Kandel wrote.
Harris would be a solid option for the Falcons to consider, but signing a player coming off an injury always carries some risk. Atlanta is looking to add a reliable backup behind Robinson.
The Falcons are hoping to get over the playoff hump this season, and it could come down to having a dependable RB2. Atlanta likely wouldn’t have a problem giving Harris the opportunity.
