Falcons’ 1,456-yard standout shares how 49ers star aided 2025 preparation

If Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson has an even more impressive season than he did in his second year, it could be thanks to spending the offseason with San Francisco 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey.

NFL players working with their peers on aspects of their game that they want to improve isn’t unusual. Nonetheless, Robinson and McCaffrey were committed to learning from each other to improve their game.

Robinson spent nearly a month with McCaffrey in the Los Angeles area during June and July. The two trained and did recovery work together, something McCaffrey takes especially seriously. With the 2025 NFL season nearing, both players hope this offseason commitment pays dividends.

“It was great, me and him just giving each other just so many tips and just feeding off the knowledge from each other on the field,” Robinson said (h/t Marc Raimondi of ESPN). "And we worked for the whole month, so I got to see how he worked, he got to see how I worked, and we got to put it together and it was just really cool.

“Two guys coming together just trying to make each other better, and he taught me a whole bunch of nuanced moves that I got to learn on the field, and I did the same with him.”

Spending two months around other NFL players means there’s plenty of advice being shared, but there’s only so much someone can take in. Nonetheless, one thing that really stuck with Robinson from McCaffrey was how seriously he took recovery and how he always made sure to feel 100% before every workout.

"I mean, it's only right to want to make sure your body is at top-tier shape before you go on the field," Robinson added. "No matter what it is -- if it's a light day or a hard day -- you always want to make sure you're ready to go. So, his recovery aspect of his life is pretty impressive."

Robinson is coming off a season where he rushed for 1,456 yards and recorded 14 touchdowns. If the Falcons star tops those numbers this year, he might owe McCaffrey a gift for helping make it happen.
