In March 2019, superstar Mike Trout signed a 12-year, $426.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels. At the time, the deal was the largest ever contract in the history of North American sports.

Ever since signing the bumper deal, Trout has won earned himself four All-Star selections, three All-MLB first team selections, three Silver Slugger awards, and an AL MVP award. However, more recent years have seen his production levels decline, as he continues to struggle with repeated injuries.

On Sunday, popular baseball content page "SleeperAngels" took to X to post about Trout's record-breaking contract.

"I can be the best" - Mike Trout backs himself to recapture former glory

Mike Trout endured a difficult season in 2025, finishing with a .232 batting average, 26 home runs and 64 RBIs. Despite his struggles, however, the three-time AL MVP still remains confident in his ability.

Speaking to insider Sam Blum of "The Athletic" back in September, Trout backed himself to recapture his former glory and become "the best" in the game once again.

"I’ve got (five) more years on the contract. That’s what fuels me. I feel like I’ve got a lot left in my tank. And I know when it’s right, I can be the best. No doubt. I know how I am, I know how I think. And I know how I prepare.” "It’s been a frustrating year for me, mentally and physically. But I feel like I can get back to myself. I’ve got the fire in me to work hard this offseason to get back." Trout said

After a succession of underwhelming seasons, the Angels now enter a new era under the management of Kurt Suzuki, and fans will be hoping this change in leadership can also help Mike Trout get back to his best in 2026.
