Ex-Warriors Jonathan Kuminga takes shot at Steph Curry at T-Wolves introductory press conference

The Minnesota Timberwolves have had quite the summer, to say the least. They have added some names that are going to be great contributors to the success they hope to have this upcoming season.

The Timberwolves are legitimate contenders to make the NBA Finals, and Anthony Edwards is going to be at the forefront. Another big move that Minnesota was able to make was signing Jonathan Kuminga.

“Jonathan Kuminga has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, plus a player option, agent Aaron Turner tells ESPN. Kuminga will be a starter alongside Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert on the West contender,” ESPN’s Shams Charania wrote.

Kuminga is an NBA champion at the age of 23, so he brings the experience that Minnesota likes. His agent detailed why he chose the Timberwolves over the Los Angeles Lakers, who were the presumed favorite.

“We sat at the gym this week, and I asked him, what's the best basketball situation?" Kuminga's agent Aaron Turner said. "He said Minnesota. Well, nothing else matters. Why would you go anywhere else?"

On Thursday, Kuminga had his introductory press conference with Minnesota. Obviously, he was introduced as a new part of the franchise. Kuminga also took questions from reporters, and while answering one, he took a subtle shot at Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry.

“I’ve played with so many point guards in my career, but I’ve never played with someone that can pass as good as LaMelo,” Kuminga told the media.

While Curry is known as a shooter, it is hard to imagine that Ball is a better passer than one of the best to ever do it. It is also hard to assume that Kuminga simply forgot about Curry, as the two were teammates for five seasons. In fact, the four-time NBA champion is a big reason why the 23-year-old got as many good looks as he did.

Kuminga and his agent have had some interesting takes throughout free agency, as well as some of the comments they have made since. This only adds to it. Kuminga saying Curry is not the best passer he has played with could be viewed as another sign of some resentment toward the Warriors organization.
