Before the 2025-26 season started, everyone was excited about the Cleveland Cavaliers. They were coming off a season when they won 64 games, so they were among the favorites to win the Eastern Conference alongside the New York Knicks.
Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, they have not been at their best this season. They have suffered through losing streaks, but this recent stretch has been a promising development.
Mobley knows the Cavaliers are showing their potential
While the Cavaliers suffered a big loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier in the week, they have been doing relatively well recently.
They just won a 123-118 game against the Sacramento Kings on Friday. It was a masterful night from Evan Mobley, who was dominant on both sides of the floor. He had 29 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks.
Mobley was the star player in that game, but the rest of the team benefited from his performance. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year was excellent with his defense, but he stood out across the board with scoring and playmaking.
The rest of the team followed suit, as Mobley thinks they have been improving recently. This is a great development for the Cavaliers, especially as they are getting healthier day by day.
"We’re heading in the direction. We’re getting better and better every game. We just need to keep this up. I feel like I’m getting better. Just keep playing our brand of basketball," Mobley said after the win against Sacramento.
As long as they maintain their decent performance level, the Cavaliers should be a much better team by the time the postseason rolls around. They are already in the fifth seed after Friday, which is a great development for Cleveland.
