ESPN's Super Bowl predictions are in, and it's not close between Seahawks and Patriots

The Super Bowl is finally almost here.

The final game of the NFL season, pitting the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots, will kick off on Sunday in Santa Clara at Levi's Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

It features two teams that no one saw getting to this stage. By combined preseason odds, it's the most unlikely Super Bowl matchup ever.

They proved themselves throughout the regular season, though, as Seattle claimed the NFC's No. 1 seed and the Patriots got the 2-seed in the AFC.

Both have done what was needed to advance to the final day of the NFL season. Now, one team will get the Lombardi Trophy.

ESPN's Super Bowl predictions

Heading into the big game, ESPN had 58 experts give their picks on the Super Bowl. Seahawks fans will be much happier than Patriots fans with the results.

Of the 58 picks, a whopping 48 of them were for Seattle to win, which works out to 82.8%. Just 10 voters picked the Patriots.

The experts also predicted the score, with 27-17 being the most popular (four votes).

Of the 58 voters, more than half (35) said the game will be within seven points or less.

It's logical for Seattle to get more picks, at least on paper. The Seahawks are 4.5-point betting favorites.

ESPN's voters also projected Super Bowl MVP honors, with 22 votes for Seahawks QB Sam Darnold, and 19 votes for Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Patriots QB Drake Maye got six votes.

All told, the Pats definitely have some people to try and prove wrong.
