The Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets are the two teams most likely to be involved in the sweepstakes for Tarik Skubal this upcoming offseason.

Both teams could use Skubal in their rotation, and they are two of the teams most willing to meet the massive contract demands Skubal will have this offseason. With free agency underway, Skubal can now demand a king's ransom for his new contract.

But how much will he actually get? ESPN's Kiley McDaniel is projecting that the two-time Cy Young winner will land a $352 million contract this offseason that would break two all-time MLB records.

Tarik Skubal projected to break two MLB records with $352M contract

"1. Tarik Skubal, LHSP... Projected contract/QO: eight years, $352 million (44 AAV), not eligible for QO," McDaniel projects.

McDaniel is projecting that Skubal will sign a mammoth $352 million, eight-year contract this offseason. The Dodgers and Mets are the most likely landing spots for Skubal, and that would be the case if he reaches this kind of price tag on a deal.

This is a massive contract for Skubal, and it would break the two important pitcher contract records he's likely looking to break this offseason.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto's total contract he signed with the Dodgers, at $325 million over 12 years, is the kind of deal that Skubal is going to look to beat, even if it's over fewer years, like this eight-year deal projected by McDaniel.

$352 million would clear that record set by Yamamoto by a good bit, but that's not the only record this projected contract would break if Skubal actually were to get it.

Max Scherzer currently holds the record for the largest AAV ever for a pitcher, coming in at $43.3 million per-year. This projected Skubal deal would have an AAV of $44 million, beating Scherzer's mark by $0.7 million per-year.

This contract projection from McDaniel for ESPN might end up being lower than the deal Skubal actually gets, as a bidding war could drive up this price further.

The Dodgers, Mets, and potentially teams like the San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, and Detroit Tigers will all be involved in the Skubal market.

The Mets and Dodgers are the likely favorites, and if he were to get something around eight years for $352 million, whichever team gets Skubal, it's going to cost them a fortune.
