The Miami Dolphins have been one of the more talked-about teams so far this offseason. But, not for the right reasons.
They've cut ties with Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb, and Tua Tagovailoa could be next. Amid such major changes with a new regime, it was no surprise to see both Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane's names pop up in trade rumors.
However, according to ESPN insider Dan Graziano, the reality is a lot more exciting for Dolphins fans. Instead of a trade, the Dolphins are reportedly working on an extension for their superstar running back this offseason.
Dolphins expected to work on extension for De'Von Achane
"Expect the Dolphins to work on extensions this offseason for running back De'Von Achane," Graziano reports.
This is a massive update for the Dolphins' star running back. The 24-year-old 2023 third-round pick is extension-eligible for the first time this offseason and is in line to make a lot of money on his new deal.
While he might not make the most money of a running back, he should still easily eclipse the $10 million per-year threshold.
Coming off a Pro Bowl 2025 season with 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns with an NFL-best 5.7 yards-per-carry, along with his 67 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns, Achane was a dynamic player for Miami.

What makes that production so impressive was how much the Dolphins' offense struggled last year. Even with a mid-season quarterback change and poor play from Tagovailoa, Achane still put up a remarkable season.
Saquon Barkley is making $20.6 million per-year, which is not going to be reached by Achane. But, Alvin Kamara at $12.5 million is a figure Achane should beat.
Jonathan Taylor is making $14 million, which might be right around what Achane gets on an extension. Achane is a superstar and someone the Dolphins should invest in.
Letting him leave or trading him would be a major mistake. Paying him like a top-5 running back would be worth it. Despite some trade speculation, it looks like Achane is on his way to a long-term deal in Miami.
