ESPN analyst predicts two Eagles DL could 'surprise people' in 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles have built up one of the NFL's best rosters, and one of their best position groups is their defensive line.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis are two superstar DL, and Moro Ojomo is poised to land a major contract if he continues his breakout. Jalyx Hunt could also break out in a big way in 2026 off the edge. But there are two other DL who could have big seasons.

ESPN analyst Jeremy Fowler is predicting that those two young DL, Bryon Young and Ty Robinson, will "surprise people" during the 2026 season.

"Watch for Byron Young and Ty Robinson to become the next young Eagles defensive linemen to surprise people," Fowler writes.

Young and Robinson haven't been highly regarded defensive linemen for the Eagles, as Carter, Davis and Ojomo have taken the limelight.

But with Ojomo set to hit the open market and potentially leaving in free agency, the Eagles really could use Young and Robinson breaking out in 2026 like Fowler is predicting.

Young, the former Las Vegas Raiders draft pick, has 2.5 sacks in his NFL career, all with the Eagles. He played in all 17 games last season and wasn't a terrible depth option.

Robinson, on the other hand, was not playing well last season and is coming into training camp and the preseason this year. There were enough concerns that Robinson seemed like someone who could be cut from the 53-man roster.

But his preseason changed that narrative completely. In Week 1 of the preseason, he got 1.0 sack with two total tackles. Week 2 saw Robinson record 2.0 sacks and four tackles. In the third and final preseason game, he recorded only one tackle assist.

While he didn't do much in the final preseason game, his 3.0 sacks during the preseason were more than good enough to prove he's someone worth keeping an eye on this season.

If Robinson and Young break out like Fowler is insinuating by predicting they'll "surprise people" in 2026, then the Eagles could have a five-player-deep IDL group that would be a major problem for opposing offenses to figure out.
