The Tar Heels are one of the most interesting teams in college football. UNC is also one of the hardest to predict. They have Bill Belichick now, one of the greatest coaches in football history, but there's no telling if he can be a good college coach. They also have a pretty weak roster, but the schedule is soft.
There are a lot of pros and cons with North Carolina, but one analyst thinks that soft schedule will be the biggest thing. They could reasonably start the season pretty hot. Of course, it's not in Belichick's nature to get ahead of the very next thing on the schedule, but ESPN's Chris Low certainly did.
"Speaking of Belichick, he didn't get a bad draw in his first season at North Carolina. And, yes, we know he's not one to look ahead until it's 'on to whomever,'" he said.
However, he also added that the Tar Heels start with a decently difficult matchup with TCU at home on September 1, but things open ip from there. "If they win that one, it's conceivable they could be 5-0 going into their home game against Clemson on Oct. 4. The Tar Heels get a bye week prior to the Clemson game after playing at UCF on Sept. 20," he said.
Clemson is viewed in a totally different stratosphere than the Heels, but Low believes that things could shake out the right way to make that early-season matchup must-watch TV.
