Chelsea are set for a huge week starting Sunday when they take on Nottingham Forest with a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League on the line.
Then the Blues travel to Poland to take on Real Betis in the final of the UEFA Conference League. However, in among all this there is one piece of news that has been making headlines recently and Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has finally reacted to it.
Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid of late, with reports even claiming that that he has agreed terms with the club.
Fernandez has been a key player for Chelsea this season and has even scored some crucial goals for the club. Therefore, it is not surprising that Real Madrid have expressed interest in signing the 24 year old.
Meanwhile, Fernandez added fuel to the fire recently by stating that Real Madrid is his preferred team while playing EA FC. However, Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has shut down all possibilities regarding a move for the Argentine World Cup winner.

What Maresca had to say about Fernandez to Real Madrid
During the press conference ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest, Maresca said, “Enzo is a main player for us. He is one of the leaders. He's been very, very good. He can be even better next season. Nothing to say about speculation. He is focused on us. Yes [he is staying].”
Despite the mutual interest between Fernandez and Madrid, the latter will have to agree a deal with Chelsea in order for the deal to go through which is highly unlikely given that the Blues have no intention to sell the player they signed in 2023 from Benfica.
More importantly, Fernandez’s current contract with the club runs until 2032, which means that the Blues are in no hurry to offer the Argentine a new contract.
