Enes Kanter Freedom banned from Chicago WNBA arena until he is no longer a 'potential threat'

Enes Kanter Freedom's disastrous appearance at Fever vs. Sky on Sunday night likely will not be repeated anytime soon.

Following his altercation with Natasha Cloud and removal from Wintrust Arena, the WNBA has already put an end to Freedom's apparent request to enter the 2027 Draft, saying he and Royce White are ineligible to join the league.

On Tuesday, Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter took it a step further, saying Freedom will not be welcomed back to his team's home arena in the future.

Enes Kanter Freedom banned from Chicago WNBA arena

Freedom, who was ejected from Sunday's game while sitting courtside, then removed from the building, has been banned from Wintrust Arena moving forward, the Sky owner said Tuesday.

Freedom won't be welcomed back "unless sometime in the future, he's able to prove to us that he's able to abide by our rules without being a potential threat," Alter said, per Colin Salao.

It doesn't appear Freedom has received a "lifetime ban" from the arena, per se, but he will not be accepted by the Sky any time soon.

Is Enes Kanter Freedom banned from all WNBA arenas?

While Freedom has been effectively banned form Winstrust Arena, there has not been word from the WNBA on a league-wide ban.

As of Monday, ESPN reported that while the WNBA did say Freedom and White were ineligible to join the league, it had not yet announced whether there were plans to "prevent Enes Kanter Freedom from attending future games."

What did Michael Alter say about Enes Kanter Freedom

Alter, the owner of the Sky, met with reported on Tuesday, primarily to address Sunday's situation involving Cloud and Freedom.

According to Colin Salao, Alter said he first learned that Freedom planned to attend Sunday's game around 2:30 p.m. CT that day, but did not know where he'd be seated.

“It was pretty clear to us that his purpose of coming here was trying to be provocative and just see how much attention he could get,” Alter said, per Salao.

The Sky owner added that people sitting around the former NBA player "confirmed that the dialogue between Cloud and Kanter started with Kanter."

"He began to chirp with her sometime in the third quarter. I would characterize it as trash talking, nothing personal," Alter said of Freedom, per Salao. "Basketball-related, but enough to get her attention and to engage her, and in my opinion, to try to provoke her.”

“He portrays as this victimless person who did nothing, said nothing. Just wearing a t-shirt ... We have five different security authorities that all agreed very quickly to throw him out because he made himself into a threat."

Per Salao, Alter also said that he regrets not informing the Sky and/or Fever players pre-game that Freedom planned to attend the game, originally thinking it was too close to game time to do so.

What did Enes Kanter Freedom do?

Freedom has been at the centre of WNBA controversy for weeks, stemming from his announcement that he planned to join the league by declaring himself a woman in the wake of Sophie Cunningham's public stance on transgender athletes.

Freedom then attended Sunday's Fever vs. Sky game courtside, getting into a verbal altercation with Cloud before being ejected. He was wearing a shirt that read: "WOMAN noun. adult human female."

Freedom had also been "making comments toward Cloud throughout the game," per ESPN.
