Here comes the bride (wars)… again!
A Bride Wars series starring Emma Roberts is being developed at Peacock, inspired by the 2009 rom-com led by Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. According to a press release shared with DECIDER, the North Carolina-set series is described as ” a fresh, loose reimagining” of the original film, and will follow a “big-city wedding planner” played by Roberts, “whose arrival in a small town sparks an epic showdown with a beloved local planner.”
“As the two women battle to plan the same wedding, their rivalry quickly escalates into a larger clash over friendship, community, and, ultimately, love,” the synopsis continues.
Bride Wars centered on best friends Emma (Hathaway) and Liv (Hudson), who since childhood, had dreamt about their perfect weddings at the Plaza Hotel. But when a mix-up causes them to double book the Plaza, they wreak havoc on each other in the lead-up to their big day. The cast also featured Chris Pratt, Bryan Greenberg, Candice Bergen, and Steve Howey.
