Why You’ll Love This Easy Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and Dinner Rolls Combo

This chicken noodle soup recipe is my go-to soup recipe that my family requests over and over again in the fall and winter! It is so easy, cheap and filling! In fact, it’s so easy and versatile that I don’t even have a full recipe for it (I did, however, write out some basic instructions for how I make chicken noodle soup).

If your chicken is already cooked, you can have this soup on the table in about 20 minutes from start to finish. Feel free to add in different vegetables (I sometimes throw in a bag of frozen mixed veggies) and mix up the spices (sage, parsley and basil are all delicious!).

If you are wondering what to serve with chicken noodle soup, these dinner rolls pair well for a complete and cozy meal. This is THE easiest roll recipe that I’ve ever made. Even if you don’t feel confident working with yeast, you can make this recipe – trust me! It skips the traditional first rise completely, letting you make, knead, bake and serve freshly baked yeast rolls in just about 30 minutes. It’s so easy it feels like magic!

FAQs about Chicken Noodle Soup

Can you freeze chicken noodle soup?

Yes, you can absolutely freeze chicken noodle soup! However, I recommend you freeze it without the noodles. The broth, chicken, and vegetables freeze beautifully, but noodles tend to soak up extra liquid and turn mushy once they’re thawed and reheated.

If you want the best texture, simply freeze the soup base on its own and cook up a fresh batch of noodles when you’re ready to enjoy it. Then just combine them when reheating — it’ll taste like you made it fresh that day, but be as easy as cooking plain pasta!

Is chicken noodle soup healthy?

Yes, chicken noodle soup is part of a balanced diet. It provides protein from the chicken; fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the veggies; and hydration from the broth. Plus, the warm liquid can help soothe a sore throat or stuffy nose, which is why it’s a go-to when you’re feeling under the weather.

You could make it even healthier by using whole-wheat pasta or adding extra vegetables.
