East Carolina CB could be a 2025 draft fit for the Washington Commanders

With the college football regular season winding to its close, a new season is beginning to round into form: mock draft season.

Our own Vinnie Iyer gave us his latest mock on Friday morning, and has the Washington Commanders selecting a player at a prime position of need.

East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel may not be a household name in college football, due to the rather small school he plays at. However, before tearing his ACL this past September, he was considered one of the best defensive prospects in the country.

During his junior season in 2023, Revel broke out with 13 passes deflected, an interception and a fumble recovered for a touchdown. He also recorded a sack, four tackles for losses and 54 total tackles, showing versatility at the defensive back position.

In three games in 2024 prior to his injury, Revel intercepted two passes including a pick-six. He's an explosive playmaker who can get his hands on the ball.

Revel's injury status might be a concern for some teams, and could cause him to slip towards the end of the first round. The Commanders, projected by Iyer to be drafting 22nd, could grab him there.

Even with Marshon Lattimore in the fold, the defensive backfield is one of Washington's biggest areas of need. A high-upside player like Revel could be a game changer for the Commanders.
