Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ latest off-field project might be his most inspiring yet

The MVP of Super Bowl LIX is about to become a published author.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts announced Monday on The Today Show that he is releasing a children’s book titled: “Better Than a Touchdown." The book is written by Hurts and illustrated by Nneka Myers.

Per the publisher, Penguin Random House, the book features a young boy named Jalen who is forced to problem solve with his friends after his school's football program gets cut: “Jalen is so excited for the new school year because this is the year he’ll finally get to try out for the football team! But when he arrives at school, he learns the unthinkable—that the football team has been cut. He and his friends are devastated. But Jalen isn’t ready to give up, and with some advice from some friends, maybe—just maybe—they can save the day.”

Hurts called publishing the book — which will be released in March of 2026 and can be pre-ordered with a hard cover on platforms like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target and Walmart for $19.99 — a dream.

“"It's a lot of hard work, a lot of love put into this book,” Hurts said. “It was very heartfelt, because without the lessons learned, I wouldn't be where I am today. So I'm excited to extend those lessons to the next generation and hopefully uplift them, just as these lessons I've learned do the same for me."

This is the second children’s book to be launched this year by a member of the Super Bowl champions. Retired defender Brandon Graham launched “BG’s ABCs, Tackling Football and Life” in conjunction with author Lesley Van Arsdall.
