The Philadelphia Eagles appear to have won their trade deadline plan.
Jaelan Phillips, who they acquired from the Miami Dolphins, has been very solid since coming to Philly.
That does raise the point that Phillips is on an expiring contract. The Eagles will have to decide what to do with him in the offseason.
The latest ESPN power rankings attempted to answer a contract extension question for each team. For the Eagles, they looked at Phillips, and the suggestion is that Phillips will be a priority to bring back.

"Acquired from the Dolphins for a 2026 third-round pick in November, Phillips has fortified a defensive front that looks championship-caliber in the fifth and final year of his rookie deal," ESPN's Tim McManus writes. "He has 27 pressures, 10 QB hits, a sack and three tackles for loss in six games with the Eagles. Phillips has played for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio at two different stops and is a clear fit for his scheme. He is just 26 and plays a premium position, making him precisely the type of player Philadelphia's front office would commit to long term."
The Eagles encountered some issues on the defensive line this season. Injuries left them shorthanded, and then one of their solutions, Za'Darius Smith, retired.

Philadelphia's hands were tied in such a way that Brandon Graham even came out of retirement to play again.
Phillips has been a shining light amid the bumpy road up front, though. It's clear the Eagles could use him in the future, too. It'll all come down to how much he costs, because solid pass rushers don't come cheap.
