There is a wild rumor out there that links the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles to a Myles Garrett trade and A.J. Brown's name was even brought up.
Easton Butler of Packer Report reports that the Rams have called the Cleveland Browns about a trade for Garrett.
Butler also reports that the Eagles are "making a strong push" for Garrett and have even offered up Brown as part of the package.
While it remains unclear just how interested the Browns are in trading Garrett, Butler says Cleveland is at least listening to offers.
"The LA Rams have called the Cleveland Browns about star EDGE Myles Garrett, per a source. The Rams have reportedly offered a 'Rickey Williams-esque' type trade for Garrett," Butler wrote.
"The Philadelphia Eagles are also making a strong push, offering WR AJ Brown and more for the star," he added. "Craziest part too? The Browns are listening to all the calls currently. The Eagles also made a strong push during the draft for Garrett."
The Browns reworked Garrett's contract earlier this offseason and Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap revealed that the restructure made it easier to trade the superstar edge rusher, so that created some smoke around the idea Garrett could get dealt.
The nugget about Brown is particularly interesting because the Eagles are widely expected to trade the star wideout to the New England Patriots at some point after June 1 at 4 p.m. ET, when Brown's dead-cap hit officially shrinks.
Philly has a clear need along the edge after Jaelen Phillips left in free agency this offseason. The Eagles have since traded for Jonathan Greenard, but Philly really needed two edge rushers with Brandon Graham's future uncertain.
The Rams' need at EDGE isn't as dire after they finished top 10 in sacks last season, but Los Angeles has never been shy about loading up at any position when there are Super Bowl expectations.
Cleveland would be wise to trade Garrett at some point soon, as his stock may never be higher than it is right now.
Losing Garrett would be a big blow to the Browns' defense, but a trade makes a ton of sense because Cleveland is years away from competing and Garrett might be on the decline by the time the Browns reach that level, if they ever do.
