It’s finally June. 1, meaning Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will soon learn his offseason fate.
In a recent report, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer all but confirmed what many fans are expecting to occur this month: there’s a high probability Brown will spend the next leg of his NFL career with the New England Patriots.
"My understanding is the framework is in place for a trade to be made early next week that will make A.J. Brown a Patriot," Breer said Friday, according to NBC Sports’ Justin Leger.
"The exact terms, the details, I still think there are some things to be worked out there. But I think it would sort of take someone backing out at this point, whether it's the Eagles or the Patriots, for it not to happen."
The writing on the wall for a potential Brown-Patriots blockbuster deal has been there since March, but it should become a reality this month, as both parties appear poised to become trade partners and execute a deal that will immediately make headlines.
Brown caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns with the Eagles last season, showing that even though things didn’t always go his way, he still managed to be productive in a highly demanding receiving role.
If all goes well, the Patriots will land a new No. 1 receiver for Drake Maye ahead of the 2026-27 NFL season.
