A 58-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by an e-scooter while crossing a Staten Island street Saturday evening, according to police.
Jose Luis Gomez-Guallazaca was hit by the electric ride operated by a 25-year-old man around 7:40 p.m. “in the vicinity” of the bike lane on Targee Street, the NYPD said.

The e-scooter operator was also thrown from the two-wheeler during the collision that happened outside the crosswalk, police said.
Gomez-Guallazaca suffered severe trauma throughout his body and was later pronounced dead at Richmond University Medical Center.
Police said he lived in the Bronx less than a mile from Yankees Stadium, though records indicate his most recent address was in Suffolk County on Long Island.

The e-scooter operator is in stable condition, cops said.
No charges have been brought as the investigation is ongoing.
