Victor Wembanyama is off to a fantastic start to his third season in the NBA, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 4-0 record. This led to ESPN immediately putting Wembanyama in future GOAT conversations. However, Ron Harper is not having any of it and told the network's top analyst to "relax."
On Tuesday's episode of "NBA Today," Kendrick Perkins made a bold prediction about Wembanyama. Perkins believed that the Spurs superstar is going to be in the GOAT conversation alongside Michael Jordan and LeBron James when it's all said and done.
"15 to 20 years from now, the GOAT conversation is going to go like this: MJ, Braun and Wemby," Perkins said. "Those are the three names that are going to come up in the GOAT conversation. Because if this man stays healthy, he's going to be arguably the best defensive player we've ever seen. I believe he's going to win five or six defensive player of the year awards."•

However, Dylan Harper's father, Ron Harper, a teammate of Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls, wants Kendrick Perkins to relax and let Victor Wembanyama enjoy the game. Wembanyama has done amazingly in the first four games of the season, but it's too early to proclaim him as a future GOAT.
"Relax let the kid play and have fun first it’s only year 3," Harper tweeted.@ESPNNBA @KendrickPerkins Relax let the kid play and have fun first it’s only year 3
Wemby has all the tools to be the GOAT, but he's only in his third season. His impressive sophomore campaign ended because of a blood clot issue, so health is still going to be a factor for anyone's career. Players at his height also don't have the best injury history.
Nevertheless, "The Alien" has certainly arrived and is ready to take over the NBA. He's one of the favorites to win this year's MVP, along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic.
Victor Wembanyama and Dylan Harper are the future of the Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs selected Dylan Harper with the No. 2 pick of this year's NBA draft. Harper wasn't slated to be a starter, especially with De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle at the helm.
With Fox out, Castle has taken over the starting point guard position for the Spurs. Harper is coming off the bench and has been nothing short of spectacular. He fits right in with Castle and Victor Wembanyama, giving the Spurs a really good core for the future.
