Welcome along to the latest rendition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's AEW News & Rumor Roundup. Today, we are covering headline-worthy news involving top All Elite Wrestling stars like Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley, to name a few.
A major announcement was made about Chris Jericho's immediate future. Meanwhile, AEW appears to have a complicated Jon Moxley situation, and a former WWE star who recently competed for the Jacksonville-based promotion is reportedly not signed with the company yet. We've got a bunch of top stories emerging from the All Elite Wrestling universe today, so let's get right into it.
#4. Bully Ray says AEW is forced to continue with Jon Moxley and Darby Allin feud
AEW is supposedly in a challenging creative situation with Jon Moxley, with Bully Ray suggesting that the promotion is forced to continue his ongoing rivalry with Darby Allin. Moxley and his group, the Death Riders, have been at the center of the promotion’s main event scene. His rivalry with Allin reached a violent peak in their “I Quit” Match at AEW WrestleDream 2025, which Allin ultimately won. Despite the decisive nature of that encounter, the feud appears to be far from over.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray shared his take on the situation, saying Tony Khan had no choice but to keep the storyline active.
"They have to. They’re forced. They have no star power because they need star power. They need more story," said Bully Ray. [H/T: E Wrestling]#3 Chris Jericho and Fozzy set to perform at Sonic Temple Festival
Although there is uncertainty about Chris Jericho’s future in AEW and pro wrestling, his immediate plans outside wrestling appear to be set. A new announcement confirmed that the former AEW World Champion’s band, Fozzy, is officially scheduled to perform at this year’s Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, Ohio.
Fozzy announced on Instagram that they will perform on the main stage on Day 1 of the festival, which is Thursday, May 14. The 53-year-old has spent most of 2024 focusing on touring and recording instead of wrestling. His last match was at AEW Dynasty in April, where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido.
Meanwhile, wrestling fans continue to speculate on when, and if, he will return to Tony Khan's promotion, especially since his current contract ends in December.
#2. Jeff Jarrett says TNA never held serious negotiations with Adam Copeland
Recent comments from Jeff Jarrett have clarified long-standing speculation about Adam Copeland (fka Edge) and whether he ever considered signing with TNA (Impact Wrestling) before joining All Elite Wrestling.
Speaking on his My World podcast, Double J confirmed that while TNA had maintained awareness of Copeland’s career, there was never any serious negotiation between the two sides.
"If he would have been available, I’m sure we would have had some type of discussion, but again, people probably don’t even realize how conscientious, not just myself, but the entire team knowing, that there’s just a healthy balance of AJ [Styles] and Eric Young and Bobby Roode and Chris Harris and James Storm and all the originals that you get that thing out of whack.” said the veteran. [H/T ITRWrestling]#1. Nixon Newell has reportedly not signed with AEW yet despite making his debut
A recent report has revealed that former WWE star Nixon Newell (fka Tegan Nox) has not officially signed a contract with AEW, despite her surprise debut on Collision last week. Newell appeared alongside her partner, Miranda Alize, in a segment that interrupted a backstage interview featuring TayJay (Tay Melo and Anna Jay).
During the segment, Newell and Alize challenged TayJay to a tag team match as part of the ongoing tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions. The confrontation marked Newell’s first appearance in the promotion, leading to speculation that she and Alize had joined. However, the latest reports from the Wrestling Observer Radio suggest otherwise.
According to Dave Meltzer, the debut may have been a “one-off” appearance explicitly designed for the tag team tournament.
"I didn't get the impression that they're signed to a deal, as much as they're being brought in for a tag team match," Meltzer said. "Kind of like 'If you do good...' whatever. I don't know. I haven't heard that they're signed or anything. But we'll see." [H/T WrestlingInc.]It will be interesting to see if All Elite Wrestling will officially make Newell All Elite in the near future.
