It’s safe to say that Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green isn’t the biggest fan of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. During a recent episode of his “Why is Draymond Green Talking About Football” podcast, the four-time NBA champion labeled the Cowboys QB a “bum” because of his clutch play, or lack thereof.
"They’ll never win with Dak. . . You have to understand, when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback," Green said. "Of course he’s a good NFL quarterback. But I’m saying when the money is on the line, when it’s for all the marbles, who are you? He’s a bum. What has he done in those moments? Been a bum.”
For what it’s worth, Green’s cohost, Jordan Schultz, vehemently disagreed with Green’s opinion.
“Dak’s not a bum. He’s an MVP candidate,” Schultz countered. “He’s a really good quarterback.”
"Dak's [Prescott] a bum. ... They'll never win with Dak. ... Of course he's a good NFL quarterback... [but] when the money's on the line, when it's for all the marbles, who are you?"
Draymond Green RIPPED the Cowboys QB 😳
The reality is probably somewhere in the middle. Prescott has been an extremely productive and successful regular season quarterback. He’s a three-time Pro Bowler and a former All-Pro who led the league in passing touchdowns in 2023. However, his success hasn’t really translated to postseason play.
Prescott has a 2-5 playoff record, and both of those wins came in the Wild Card Round. He has yet to lead the Cowboys past the Divisional Round. This is where Green’s criticism comes in, as Prescott has been very good in the regular season for a decade now, but he’s never been able to elevate his team for a deep playoff run.
It doesn’t seem like this will be Dallas’ year either. Sure, the Cowboys made a couple of splash moves prior to the NFL trade deadline, but it likely won’t be enough. Dallas sits at 3-5-1 and are well outside of the playoff picture in the NFC.
But perhaps Green’s comments will serve as bulletin board material for Prescott and light a fire under him that unlocks a new level and propels the Cowboys back into that playoff picture. Fans in Dallas would certainly be appreciative of that.
