Drake Maye's wife Ann-Michael reveals biggest challenge in first year of marriage

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and his wife, Ann-Michael Maye, have had plenty to celebrate in their first year of marriage

That doesn't mean every part of it has been easy.

Ann-Michael, 23, recently opened up about the biggest adjustment she's had since marrying the Patriots QB1 in 2025.

"Moving to somewhere so completely different, being away from all of our friends and family is probably the most challenging part," the NFL WAG told Us Weekly. "Luckily, we have great teammates and great friends here that have really made the New England area feel like home, which is great."

The couple grew up in the same neighborhood in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area, before they attended college at UNC and Drake's NFL career moved them up to New England.

Ann-Michael Maye reflects on growing up faster than her friends

While there's no doubt that the distance must be tough, Ann-Michael insists that "there's nothing to complain about," even though she feels like she lives a very different life than her other friends who are off enjoying life in their twenties.

"My friends are just living in these cities, crammed in apartments with, like, five girls, going to their 9-to-5 corporate jobs every day and they’re so far away from getting married and all these things," she told the outlet. "They think I’m, like, 30 or something. I just turned 23. They’re like, ‘You’re living a life 10 years in advance of us.’"

Luckily, she's found a strong support system in other Patriots' WAGs.

"We’re all experiencing the same things, living the same sort of life, which I think is sometimes so different from other fields of work and other people don’t necessarily understand exactly what you’re going through," she said.

It's probably also helped that she's been widely accepted by Pats fans, who have dubbed her the "Queen of New England."

She's won over many fans via viral TikTok "Bakemas" cooking videos.

Turns out, New England hasn't been such a bad fit after all.
