Drake Maye predicted to make NFL history in Super Bowl 60, but not in a good way

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will play in his first Super Bowl in just his second season in the NFL – an impressive feat.

Unfortunately for Maye, he could be on the wrong side of some NFL history in the Big Game.

Drake Maye predicted to break postseason record for QB sacks taken

In a recent article for CBS Sports, Zachary Pereles predicts that Maye will break the NFL record for most quarterback sacks taken in a single postseason.

Maye has been sacked 15 times in the postseason so far, and he needs to be sacked five more times to pass the record 19 sacks that Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was on the receiving end of a few years back.

“Maye has taken five sacks in each of his three postseason games this year. Rookie left tackle Will Campbell has struggled mightily, and the interior of the line has had its ups and downs, too. Maye, who loves to rip the deep ball, is liable to hold onto the ball for a tick or two too long,” Pereles wrote.

“… Maye's 15 playoff sacks taken are already second-most in a single postseason. Joe Burrow took 19 in the 2022 postseason. Maye, unfortunately for him and Patriots fans, will break that ‘record.’”

Maye has been sacked five times in each playoff game so far during this run, so him being sacked five times again isn’t out of the realm of possibilities, especially against Seattle’s defense.

The Seahawks finished in the top 10 during the regular season in both sacks and quarterback pressure rate. If they're able to consistently generate pressure in the Super Bowl, it could end up being a long night for Maye.
