SANTA CLARA, Ca. — A dynasty was born the night that a second-year quarterback engineered a memorable two-minute drive that birthed a dynasty.
No one is under any illusions that 24 years after Super Bowl 36, another second-year quarterback might one day be remembered for the birth of a new dynasty.
But on this impending Super Bowl 2026 night, the Patriots and all of New England are allowed to dream that Drake Maye can be Tom Brady when they need him the most against the Seahawks.
“I trust the young man implicitly in every situation, but certainly if the game’s on the line. We’ve had a few opportunities this year to deal with those types of circumstances, and we’ve always got his best football,” Patriots OC Josh McDaniels said. “If that happens in the Super Bowl, it means that you’re part of an incredible game, and you’re fortunate to have the opportunity to win it in that fashion, so I would look forward to it, and I’m sure he would too.”
