Celebrity Deaths 2026: Catherine O’Hara, Eric Dane & More Fallen Stars
One star’s light has dimmed too soon.
Misua—a drag queen who was competing in the fourth season of Drag Race: Philippines—has died, production company World of Wonder confirmed. She was 27.
“We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2,” World of Wonder wrote on social media April 2. “She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.”
The company confirmed filming on the Drag Race season—which had not yet publicly announced its cast of queens—had been paused, and that it was in contact with Misua’s family.
“Our thoughts,” the statement added of the star, born Jayson Elvie Ty, “are with her family, friends, and all who loved her.”
According to Variety, Misua’s family shared a tribute to Facebook, writing, “Jayson was our dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor, and most of all, Jayson is a star. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and close friends.”
No additional details have been shared about her cause of death.
Her bio for Drag Race, obtained by Variety, confirms Misua was a graphic designer and had been performing drag for eight years.
“She is known,” the bio reads, “for creating nearly every aspect of her drag herself—from her outfits, hair, and nails to props and visual content—reflecting her extraordinary creativity and eye for detail.”
“Misua finds strength in community and in being surrounded by like-minded artists who share her passion for growth, ambition, and creativity,” the bio continues. “Her drag name, inspired by her grandfather’s comfort food, speaks to the personal and heartfelt nature of her artistry.”
Misua described her drag style as being rooted in fashion, artistry, and self-expression.
“Known for her striking visuals, fashion-forward perspective, and magnetic presence,” her application read, per the outlet, “Misua brings light, joy, and ambition to everyone around her. She sees herself as both a creative force and a star, with a dream of inspiring others to work hard for what they want and to hold on to their dreams.”
Following the news of her death, many Drag Race alums, stars and fans expressed their condolences.
“Sending so much love,” wrote Michelle Visage on World of Wonder’s post, while Drag Race Down Under’s Hannah Conda wrote, “Absolutely heartbreaking! My thoughts are with my Filo family. I love you all and sending my love! She was an absolute star!”
One fan also requested that production not edit Misua out of the episodes that had already filmed, adding, “This is her dream and we need to honor her artistry and love for drag.”
