Dr. Seuss’ La Jolla home where he penned most of his famous children’s books has hit the market at nearly $10 million — with stunning, “second-to-none” views of the Southern California coastline.

The nearly 5,000-square-foot, four-bedroom, four-bathroom estate, once owned by the famous author whose real name is Theodor Seuss Geisel and his wife Audrey, sits on 1.51 acres at 7301 Enceila Drive and comes with a pool and pool house, Mercury News reported.

Built in 1950 by famed architect Thomas Shepherd, the home was “was thoughtfully built around a pre-existing Spanish Revival observation tower dating back to 1923-24, created to showcase the site’s remarkable outlook,” according to the real estate team handling the sale.

“This view is second to none,” a rep with the real estate team said. “To have the panoramic view … sweeping up the coastline … is nothing less than stunning.”

Home to the late author for four decades, the house is owned by University of California San Diego, and is where Geisel wrote such legendary children’s books as “The Lorax,” “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”

He wrote 42 of his 68 published works at the handsome home, the Zillow listing says.

Renovated in 1995, the observation tower and office where the author created dozens of his published works remains unchanged from when Geisel and his wife lived there.

Both the office and tower were designated historic by the San Diego Historical Resources Board and can’t be altered through future renovations.

Geisel lived in the home until his death in 1991. His wife died in 2018. After that, the home was donated to UCSD, which put it up for sale in 2022 — but none of the bids were accepted.

According to the Stull Act, certain steps must be taken to sell property.

“It has to be marketed for a certain amount of time, and that time will be from now to April 15,” a rep from the real estate team said. “A lot of people have asked if they can come in and make an offer to buy it [now], and the answer is no, you can’t.”

Last year, two lots that surround the home owned by UCSD fetched a total of $9 million.

The real estate team representative said he expects the home to “go for at least full price.”

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, a newly discovered Dr. Seuss manuscript featuring the Cat in the Hat will be published this year, the New York Post reported.

The book is titled “Sing the 50 United States” and aims to help children learn all 50 states.

“Uncovering a new work from Ted is like finding a time capsule of his imagination,” said Susan Brandt, president and CEO of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.

“‘Sing the 50 United States’ celebrates his boundless creativity, genius with words, and enduring ability to inspire young readers everywhere. We’re honored to share this new Dr. Seuss treasure with readers across America during such a meaningful milestone year.”

The book is out on June 2.
