Mike Dean appeared to react to Travis Scott bringing out Kanye West during his show in Japan on Saturday, November 8. Dean appeared to suggest that it could be a potential trick or sabotage.

Kanye West had recently alleged that Travis Scott left him out of his fourth studio album, Utopia, which was released on July 28, 2023. This led to speculation of a beef between the two artists.

Amidst this, Scott surprisingly brought out West during his Circus Maximus tour at the Belluna Dome in Japan on Saturday. Ye performed many of his hits like Runaway, Can't Tell Me Nothing, Through The Wire, and more.

Mike Dean appeared to react to this on Instagram, as caught by Kurrco. The record producer reportedly wrote in the comment section of an Instagram post about the two rappers performing together:

"Don't fall for the banana in the tailpipe."

This is a phrase from the movie, Beverly Hills Cop, which means a trick or sabotage.

There was speculation that Mike Dean and Ye were beefing after the former reposted some content about social media provocation. This came at a time when Ye was highly active on social media with his controversial remarks relating to antisemitism.

However, Dean said that he and the rapper were "cool" in an interview with Rolling Stone, published on October 2, 2025:

"We’re cool. We’re just not working. There’s no intense beef or anything. If we saw each other, we’d probably hug and say hello and then keep moving. Yeah, there’ll be a time when we probably get back together. Who knows when? That’s a heavy question."

On the other hand, Mike Dean appeared to take a dig at Travis Scott in July this year. On July 12 this year, he posted a story on his Instagram account, as caught by Hot New Hip Hop, writing:

"Somewhere in the world, an engineer is being yelled at. Stop being a b**ch because your music is weak now."

This came just a day before Scott released his compilation album, Jackboys 2. However, neither artist has commented further on it.

Travis Scott had hinted at collaboration with Kanye West last month

During his tour in Asia last month, Travis Scott gave a shoutout to Ye. He also said that they need to work on something good together, saying:

"Shoutout to my brother Ye, man, ain't gon' lie, we might have to do something special..."

He then said in an interview (h/t Complex):

“Sh*t, man. That’s my kid’s uncle. That guy took me in when I was young, when I was like 19. He taught me a lot about music. And not even just ‘taught’ me, but he allowed me to experience the creation of music.”

Scott has always hailed Kanye West as his inspiration and an idol. They have also collaborated on songs like Piss On Your Grave and Praise God in the past.
