Don't expect Joe Burrow to pull an Aaron Rodgers against Myles Garrett and the Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns Week 18 matchup has no playoff implications, but it's a matchup that many will be tuning into.

Myles Garrett of the Browns is chasing the NFL sack record and needs just one sack to do so. Thanks to the Pittsburgh Steelers gameplan to avoid Garrett, he's still one sack shy of the record entering Week 18.

When Joe Burrow was asked about his thoughts on Garrett's potential breaking the sack record during his press conference, the Bengals quarterback revealed he has no plans to act as Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers did. Burrow isn't afraid of being sacked for the record.

Bengals' Joe Burrow reveals thoughts on Myles Garrett's sack record chase

"I'm not going to go out of my way to not let him get the record," Burrow said of Garrett. "I'm gonna go play football. There are going to be situations where a sack is the best of the bad outcomes of that play. Maybe I take one."

Burrow has no plans of backing down in fear of Garrett sacking him in Week 18. He's going to do what's necessary to move the ball down the field and play smart football.

If that involves taking a sack instead of trying to risk a fumble, interception, or for some other reason, he's okay with taking the sack.

A week after the Steelers and Rodgers clearly were game planning to avoid Garrett, and lost an upset to the Browns, Burrow and the Bengals have no such intentions.

Rodgers and the Steelers' offense were severely limited by the Garrett-averse playstyle to the point that Garrett, NFL media, and other Browns players called out the Steelers for it.

NFL fans hoping to see Garrett break the record can breathe easy knowing Burrow won't follow suit and play to avoid Garrett this week.

If Burrow gets sacked, he gets sacked. His goal is to move the ball down the field, and not to avoid letting Garrett get the sack record, like it seemed Rodgers was doing in Week 17.

Garrett is on his way to the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, and one sack of Burrow would break the NFL's 22.5 sack record.

He already got two sacks on Burrow this season back in Week 1, and if he can get just one more, he'll join NFL history as the most prolific single-season sack artist.

Burrow isn't backing down, and doesn't plan to pull what Rodgers and the Steelers did in Week 17 by so adamantly avoiding Garrett and the sack record. Garrett will get the record fair and square, and without the opposing team desperately avoiding the record.
