The Kings’ season took another hit on Thursday with center Domantas Sabonis now expected to be out for an extended period of time due to a partial meniscus tear in his left knee.
Sabonis, who was part of the return in the 2022 trade with the Pacers that sent Tyrese Haliburton to Indiana, will be reevaluated in three to four weeks, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
The injury will keep the 29-year-old out of the Kings’ lineup through at least mid-December and force him to miss at least Sacramento’s next 10 games.

It was only after more tests were done that the tear in the meniscus was revealed and the greater impact it would have on the Kings’ season became evident.
The three-time All-Star has been one of the team’s healthier players, having played in 79, 82 and 70 games over the past three seasons in Sacramento.
The Kings’ big man has averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists this season. He put up a season-high 34 points in a loss to the Timberwolves last Friday.
Sabonis is the team’s highest-paid player on the Kings roster, with three years, $146.8 million let on his contract.

Sacramento has not won a game since Nov. 5, dropping seven contests in a row.
Sabonis helped the Kings end their 16-year playoff drought in 2022-23 when they finished the year as the third seed in the Western Conference, though they were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round.
