ORLANDO, Fla. — Among the hits and misses in Mike Brown’s opening month, there’s a clear name atop his accomplishments.
It’s not who we once envisioned, not a youngster who is surging amid the organization’s stated priority of player development. If anything, the 2024 draft class is clunking.
Instead, it’s Landry Shamet, a veteran whose career trajectory was tumbling until recently, who is best rewarding the coach’s faith.
Shamet’s production, which includes a 36-point performance last week at MSG and victory-saving clutch moments Wednesday in Dallas, is making Brown look good — even if the coach doesn’t think a makeover is necessary.
